7075 Aluminum Coil
7075 aluminum is an alloy that contains zinc as its primary alloying element. The earliest use of the alloy can be traced back to the 1930s when the Sumitomo Metal Company developed it for use by Japanese military aircraft. The Mitsubishi Zero fighter plane, famous for its speed and maneuverability relied on the excellent properties of 7075, like strength and low weight.
Today, the 7075 aluminum coil supplied by Inquivix Technologies can be manufactured to the thickness, sizes, tempering, and any other specific requirements of our clients. 7075 is suitable for the manufacture of highly stressed parts that need to withstand fatigue and be resistant to corrosion. Available in aluminum sheet, coil, and a variety of other forms, our 7075 products still have a major role to play in aerospace and industrial manufacturing applications.

Material Properties of Aluminum 7075 Alloy
High Strength and Fatigue Resistance
With Zinc as the main alloying element, 7075 aluminum alloy has a high yield strength and resistance to fatigue. This toughness is why it’s used in many high-stress structural applications and aircraft parts. Even components of the Saturn V rocket and the Space Shuttle were built using 7075. The alloy is also used for making worm gears and gear shafts.
Great Corrosion Resistance
7075 has better corrosion resistance than even the alloys in the 2xxx series of aluminum. This makes the material great for manufacturing gear meant for various outdoor activities. This includes bicycle parts, rock-climbing equipment, camping gear, and even in-line skating frames. Regulating valve components can also be made from 7075.
Low Density
7075 alloy has a low density, and as a result, the components made from it are very lightweight. This is another reason why it’s used extensively to make hang-glider airframes. Furthermore, the lightweight qualities when combined with thermal characteristics and the impressive strength of 7075 make it very suitable for the production of mold tools used in the manufacturing industries.
Can Undergo Heat Treatment
7075 coil can be manufactured in an annealed state to keep the material soft for formability or be subsequently heat treated to harden the material further. This can increase the yield and tensile strength of the alloy so that it’s on a similar level to steel. Other properties can also be changed depending on the tempering process the aluminum sheet or coil goes through. The T7 process for example can reduce stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of 7075.
